This large lavender smudge is made from hand-harvested lavender grown on our small farm. This is a great smudge to incorporate into your bedtime routine, as the scent of lavender is believed to be soothing, calming, and relaxing for body and mind.

SMUDGING INSTRUCTIONS:

You'll want to have a smudge tray, a bowl containing sand, or some other sort of flame-proof vessel (like an abalone shell) to use as a tray for your smudge.

To use, light the tip of the smudge, then blow out the flame. Walk around the area you desire to cleanse with the smudge held above your head. You may want to hold your bowl/tray below the smoking smudge to catch the ash. It is traditional to begin with the door of your space and continue around the perimeters of the room, then walk to the center of the room and fam the safe in four directions. After smudging, extinguish the smudge in your bowl or tray.

White Sage + Flowers Smudge

This smudge is made of White Sage (Salvia apiana), which is also known as “Bee Sage,” “Magic Sage,” and “Sacred Sage." White Sage is often used ceremonially for the purposes of cleansing, purification, and protection, and is believed to ward off negative energy.

We wish we could grow White Sage ourselves, but it is not native to our climate! However, we are thrilled to be able to source these smudges from friends of ours who run a family-owned and operated sage farm in San Diego county that we have visited ourselves. We feel comfortable selling these smudges because we know the growers personally, and respect their commitment to these sacred plants.

Most of the white sage found on the market has been wild-harvested from park lands and Indian reservations, and often the plants have been destroyed as a result of over-harvesting combined with a lack of rain. However, these smudges are made from sage grown with care and intention, and made from plants that have been harvested respectfully.
